SCA Epidural Introducer
The Spinal Cord Access (SCAtm) Introducer, which incorporates a 17-G Touhy convered by a radiopaque cannula, has a pre-formed bend to enhance directability. The cannula is the protecting feature that allows the physician to manipulate the catheter without the fear of shearing.

Features

- Reduced risk in shearing of catheters when passed through the SCA® Epidural Introducer.
Instructions For Use
- Using sterile technique, remove package contents.
- Visually inspect the SCA® Epidural introducer and needle for integrity. Distal end of the SCA Epidural Introducer should be smooth and free of burrs.
- Orient the curve of the introducer with the curve on the needle. Carefully slide the needle all the way into the SCA® Epidural Introducer. The bevel on the tip of the needle and curve on the SCA Epidural Introducer should always be oriented in the same direction.
- Visually verify that the tip of the SCA® Epidural Introducer aligns with the opening of the needle bevel.
- With desired technique, place the SCA® Epidural Introducer and needle. Apply force to the hub of the needle when inserting the introducer and needle. Test to confirm proper placement using desired technique. Remove obturator and needle.
- The SCA® Epidural Introducer is radiopaque and can be verified by fluoroscopy.
- The direction of the curved end of the SCA® Epidural Introducer aligns with a wing on the luer.
- Pass desired approved catheter through the SCA® Epidural Introducer.
- Remove SCA® Epidural Introducer from patient at conclusion of procedure.
Contraindications:
The SCA® Epidural Introducer is contraindicated for the following conditions:
- anomolies of the vertebrel column
- infection at the injection site
- coagulation abnormalities
- scarring at the insertion site
Warning:
- Do not re-insert the needle after the SCA® Epidural Introducer is positioned. This may cause the SCA® Epidural Introducer damage.
- For use with approved catheters only.
- Do not use if package is opened or damaged.
